Terms of Use

Last updated: Saturday, December 13, 2025

Welcome to Transylvania Trail. By accessing or using this website, you agree to be bound by the following Terms of Use. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the website.

1. Who we are

TransylvaniaTrail is a project dedicated to promoting an unsupported, self-supported bikepacking event in Transylvania, Romania and to sharing information about the route, region, and future editions of the event. The website currently serves only as an informational and pre‑registration platform and does not yet offer paid registrations, products, or services for sale.

The TransylvaniaTrail website is owned and operated by Rotas Digital SRL, established in Romania, with registered address at Str. Rotasului 14, Sector 1, Bucuresti and contact email info@transylvaniatrail.com.

2. Scope of these Terms

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the TransylvaniaTrail website, including viewing content, using interactive features, and submitting data for pre‑registration or contact. By browsing the website or submitting information, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by any additional policies referenced herein, such as the Privacy Policy.

3. Eligibility and user commitments

The website is intended for individuals who are at least 18 years old or who use it with the consent and supervision of a legal guardian. You agree to use the website only for lawful purposes, to provide accurate information when completing forms, and to refrain from any conduct that may damage, disable, or impair the site or interfere with other users’ access.

4. Nature of the future event

TransylvaniaTrail is designed as a non‑competitive, self‑supported cycling event on public roads, forest roads, and other legal rights of way, similar in spirit to other unsupported bikepacking gatherings. Participation will be at each rider’s own risk: there will be no timing classification, no official mechanical, medical, or logistical support provided by the organizer along the route, and participants will be treated, in relation to public authorities and traffic rules, as regular cyclists on individual excursions.

5. Current pre‑registration only

At this stage, the website allows interested users to submit their name and email address to pre‑register interest in a future edition of the event. Pre‑registration is free, non‑binding, and does not create any contractual relationship regarding participation; it only allows Transylvania Trail to send you information about the project and notify you when official registrations open, at which point separate terms will apply.

6. Future paid registration and updates

Once registrations open, additional terms and conditions will govern entry, payment of participation fees, withdrawal, event rules, and any mandatory documentation (such as insurance or medical certificates, if required by law or policy). The organizer reserves the right to amend these Terms and to publish an event‑specific rulebook before paid registration opens, and your continued use of the website or registration for the event will constitute acceptance of the updated terms.

7. Content on the website

The website may include route descriptions, maps, photographs, articles, and other informational content provided by Transylvania Trail or its partners. All such content is for general information only and does not constitute professional advice on navigation, safety, or fitness; conditions on the ground may change, and you remain solely responsible for verifying current access, weather, and trail conditions before riding.

8. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise indicated, all text, graphics, logos, images, route descriptions, and downloadable materials on the website are protected by copyright and related intellectual property rights owned or licensed by Transylvania Trail. You may view, download, and print material for personal, non‑commercial use only, and you may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or use any content for commercial purposes without prior written permission from Transylvania Trail.

9. User‑generated content and communications

If the website allows you to submit comments, testimonials, photos, or other materials, you are responsible for ensuring that such content is lawful, does not infringe third‑party rights, and is not defamatory, discriminatory, or otherwise harmful. By submitting content, you grant Transylvania Trail a non‑exclusive, worldwide, royalty‑free license to use, reproduce, and display such content in connection with the website and the promotion of the event, subject to any applicable privacy rules where personal data is involved.

10. Data protection and privacy

When you pre‑register, the website collects personal data such as your name and email address, which will be used to send information about the project, the route, and future registration dates, as well as related updates that may be of interest to potential participants. Processing of personal data will follow applicable data protection law, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and relevant Romanian legislation, and is further detailed in a separate Privacy Policy available on the website.

11. Cookies and tracking technologies

The website may use cookies and similar technologies to improve functionality, analyze usage, and remember user preferences. Details about the types of cookies used, their purposes, and your choices in managing them is set out in the Cookie consent banner, which forms part of these Terms by reference.

12. Unsupported nature of the event and participant responsibilities

The planned Transylvania Trail event is conceived as an unsupported or self‑supported ride: participants must be self‑sufficient in terms of navigation, food, water, clothing, equipment, and accommodation along the route. Riders will be required to obey all applicable Romanian road traffic regulations, forestry rules, and access restrictions at all times, and to behave as regular road users with no special privileges, sharing roads and trails with other users, vehicles, and wildlife.

13. Health, fitness, and safety

Prospective participants will be expected to ensure they have adequate physical fitness, cycling skills, and experience for multi‑day off‑road and mixed‑terrain riding and to consult a medical professional if in doubt about their ability to take part. The organizer may recommend, or in future editions require, that participants hold personal accident and liability insurance covering cycling activities in Romania, but each rider remains responsible for assessing and arranging their own coverage.

14. Compliance with Romanian law and local regulations

Participants will need to comply with Romanian traffic legislation when cycling on public roads, including rules on helmets where applicable, lighting, signaling, and prohibitions on using restricted roads or riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Depending on the final event format, the organizer may be required to secure authorizations or notifications to public authorities; however, such permits do not remove the obligation for each rider to respect laws, signage, protected areas, and private property boundaries along the route.

15. Environmental protection and “leave no trace”

Transylvania Trail promotes responsible outdoor behavior and respect for local communities, landscapes, and wildlife. Users of the website and future participants agree to follow “leave no trace” principles, including not littering, avoiding damage to trails and vegetation, closing gates, and respecting agricultural land, forestry operations, and local customs.

16. Third‑party links and services

The website may contain links to third‑party websites or services, such as accommodation providers, transport services, mapping platforms, or social networks. These external sites are operated by independent entities, and Transylvania Trail has no control over their content, policies, or availability; access to such third‑party resources is at your own risk and subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

17. Disclaimer of warranties

The website and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without any express or implied warranties regarding accuracy, completeness, availability, or suitability for a particular purpose. Transylvania Trail does not guarantee that the route descriptions, GPX files, or event‑related information are free from errors or that conditions on the ground will correspond to any published material, and users must exercise their own judgment and preparation when planning any ride.

18. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Transylvania Trail and its collaborators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from or in connection with your use of the website, reliance on its content, or participation in any ride inspired by the route. Nothing in these Terms seeks to exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence where such exclusion or limitation would be unlawful under mandatory consumer or civil law.

19. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Transylvania Trail, its representatives, and partners from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the website, breach of these Terms, or violation of any law or third‑party rights while using information from the site or participating in rides on the route.

20. Changes, suspension, and termination

Transylvania Trail may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the website at any time, including content, features, or availability, without prior notice. The organizer may also update these Terms periodically; the most recent version will be posted on the website, and continued access or use after changes are published will signify acceptance of the revised Terms.

21. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection provisions that may apply under the law of your habitual residence within the European Union. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms, the website, or the future event shall be submitted to the competent Romanian courts, unless otherwise required by mandatory applicable law.

22. Contact details

For questions about these Terms, about the website, or about the future event, you may contact Transylvania Trail using the contact details and forms made available on the website. Communications regarding data protection, including requests to access, rectify, or delete personal data, should follow the instructions provided in the Privacy Policy.
