Event Rules
Event description and character
Transylvania Trail is a bikepacking event owned and organized by Rotas Digital S.R.L., a private legal entity established in Romania (hereinafter the “Organizer”).
Transylvania Trail is NOT a race or an organized sports event. It is a self-supported bikepacking adventure that takes place on public roads, secondary and gravel roads, forest tracks, and cycling trails in the Transylvania region, Romania.
Transylvania Trail is NOT an organized event in the traditional sense. There is no timing, no classification, no podium, and no competitive elements. Participants ride at their own pace, according to their own schedule, and are entirely responsible for their own journey and safety.
The Organizer is NOT a professional sports event organizer, but acts solely for recreational purposes; participation in the ride is voluntary. Transylvania Trail is to be understood as a gathering of cycling and cycle touring enthusiasts on a personal trip.
Start dates: June 4 and 5, 2026, with a collective departure from Sibiu, Romania. The exact location will be communicated to registered participants.
The route: Approximately 520 km in length with almost 7,200 meters of elevation gain.
Registration and eligibility
Registration is completed online through the Transylvania Trail website.
The period during which registrations are open will be displayed on the Transylvania Trail website.
Registration fees:
- Standard package (€100): Includes the GPX track, under helmet cap, stickers, banner, and other giveaways.
- Plus package (€150): Includes everything from the Standard package plus the exclusive Transylvania Trail 2026 jersey.
Registration is valid only after payment confirmation.
Participants must be at least 18 years of age on the date of registration.
Self-responsibility declaration
All participants must sign a Self-Responsibility Declaration as part of the registration process.
By signing this declaration, they confirm that:
- They are medically fit to participate in multi-day endurance cycling activities.
- They understand the nature of the event and the difficulty of the route (gravel roads, narrow trails, hills and elevation gain, remote areas, steep sections, variable weather, domestic and wild animals, road traffic).
- They assume full responsibility for their own safety.
- They will not hold the Organizer liable for any incident, accident, injury, health issue, theft or loss, or any other harm that may occur during or after the event.
- They have read, understood, and will comply with the event rules and applicable Romanian legislation.
Route and navigation
The Organizer provides an official route in .gpx format. The Organizer reserves the right to modify the route up to 7 days before the start date.
The route crosses public roads, gravel and forest roads, narrow trails, and steep sections. The entire route is open to regular traffic, and participants must share the road with other users, vehicles, and animals.
There are no signs, markings, or course marshals along the route. The .gpx track is the only official reference for navigation.
Participants must have a GPS device or smartphone with GPS navigation capability to follow the route.
The Organizer reserves the right to modify the route at any time, before or during the event, for safety, legal, or logistical reasons. The .gpx track will be updated accordingly and provided to participants.
Participants are free to deviate from the provided route for safety reasons (road works, dangerous conditions, closed sections) and must rejoin the route as soon as it is safe to do so.
